CX O 300

A low weight, high power and supremely robust professional diesel outboard

THE SEA IS UNRELIABLE

The world’s oceans are vast, powerful and totally unpredictable. So, you need an outboard you can trust. For the first time ever, patented technology has been combined with Formula One know-how, and applied to a marine diesel outboard. The result? The most powerful commercial diesel outboard ever developed. A robust outboard with levels of efficiency and reliability to match. All combined with the weight and performance you’d normally only associate with a gasoline engine. Get ready to leave compromise trailing in your wake.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN

The first fire of Cox’s concept engine took place and design on the Alpha engine began. …AND FACILITIES

ALPHA ENGINE

The Alpha engine first fire takes place and work on the more refined Beta design begins. A series of new patents are filed and granted, building on Cox's original technology.

It all began with David Cox, founder of Cox Powertrain. He took inspiration from Second World War technology and developed a new incarnation – the Opposed Piston Diesel (OPD) concept – a true feat of engineering.

Cox will undertake a landmark Demonstration Programme, alongside its rigorous durability testing. Supported by leading boat builders and operators worldwide, this will showcase the CXO300 for the first time. 7 6 5 DEMONSTRATION PROGRAMME

A year of significant growth for the company. Tim Routsis becomes CEO, driving the business forward and taking on new premises at Shoreham (Brighton City) Airport. A year later, the first Beta engines achieve first fire. SIGNIFICANT GROWTH

Work to secure a global distribution network nears completion, with an expected 50 distributors worldwide to support the CXO300. Work on the Gamma phase of the engine development is underway. GLOBAL NETWORK COMPLETION

ALL THE BENEFITS OF DIESEL NONE OF THE COMPROMISE

You expect durability and longevity in a diesel inboard. Well, you’re soon going to find them in a diesel outboard too.

The equivalent to a medium-duty commercially-rated diesel inboard engine, the CXO300 is robust, reliable and powerful enough to meet the most demanding requirements of military, leisure and commercial professionals around the world. And stand up to the harshest of conditions. At the same time, the CXO300 will offer an expected lifecycle up to three times longer than a gasoline outboard, as well as greater levels of efficiency. Designed with the single fuel policy in mind, it will comply with the toughest emissions standards in the world. The flexibility to switch out an engine gives peace of mind, keeping you on the water, for longer.

OUR STORY BEGAN AS AN IMPOSSIBLE GOAL. TO ACHIEVE INBOARD PERFORMANCE FROM AN OUTBOARD ENGINE. AVISION ENGINEERED INTO A REALITY

So what next? A privately owned British company, Cox Powertrain is backed by a stable shareholder base of both private and institutional investors. We are now gearing up for the launch, supported by our 2018 Demonstration Programme, which will test the CXO300 to the extreme, with boat builders and operators worldwide. We’re about to start making waves in every sense. Watch this space.

Inspired by Second World War technology, founder David Cox began developing his unique patented technology ahead of the company’s inception in 2007. Today, his vision has been realised in the true feat of British engineering that is the CXO300.

BUILT IN THE UK LEADING THE WORLD

The CXO300 is set to launch a new age in marine engineering The best-in-class automotive-

and the innovative software match those found in high-performance car manufacturers. Hardly surprising with our roots in F1. A ‘no faults forward’ process control strategy is designed to ensure that every individual process is locked down, preventing any incorrect assembly from being passed on to the next workstation.

Cox Marine is proud to continue Britain’s historic record at the forefront of marine engineering. Our advanced production facility has been developed to achieve world-class standards of performance and quality. The low tolerances we work to, the state-of-the-art machinery

A new reality of efficiency, power and robustness in one

THE MARINE ENGINE TECHNOLOGY THAT BREAKS NEW GROUND

The unique design of the CXO300 outboard diesel engine combines patented technology with a range of advanced engineering innovations. Together they deliver an engine that is not just best-in-class, but in a league of its own.

the powerhead. It is available in different lengths (25”, 30”, 35”) to support multiple engine installations. CENTRIFUGAL SUPERCHARGING With a central fuel injection for optimal combustion, the CXO300 uses a centrifugal supercharger matched to the torque delivery of the powerhead. It delivers greater fuel efficiency, durability and higher resistance to water and salt ingestion.

Developed and refined by pioneering Formula One engineers, our technology allows the CXO300 engine to achieve approximately one horsepower per kilogram of weight – twice as much as standard diesel engines. The simplicity of the design means fewer parts, which minimises weight, maintenance and the risk of failure. DEPENDABLE LEG TECHNOLOGY Based on traditional technology to maintain its rugged simplicity, the leg is upgraded and made more robust to meet the needs of

PURE POWER. SUPERLATIVE CONTROL. With a robust and reliable outboard, our controls and display screens will match. The throttle delivers a level of control that is equal to the CXO300’s power and durability risk of cavitation. Gears and bearings meanwhile, have been developed for commercial duty. CORROSION PREVENTION A choice of robust base materials, an arduous coating testing process in both new and worn conditions, and the limited exposure of internal surfaces all help to minimise the risk of corrosion. PROPELLER COMPATIBILITY Compatible with the market- leading brands, the propeller is designed for easy switching, easy availability, and with options to suit the hull – not just the engine. Propeller speed matches current gasoline outboards to reduce

State-of-the-art algorithms allow seamless, intuitive manoeuvrability in close quarters Sweeping lines, a smooth lever action and a firm, ergonomic design all make it effortless to maintain a perfectly precise throttle control The controls are sculpted from the finest materials. Stainless steel levers and internal covers provide a durable long-lasting and beautiful throttle station The epoxy-filled joystick has strategic draining points, ensuring it is rugged enough to withstand years of heavy-duty use The latest in CAN bus technology allows up to six stations to be easily installed on a single communication cable. Configuration is equally straightforward via a single control unit connection, making installation and troubleshooting an ‘at the helm’ job, not an ‘in the engine room’ challenge

YOUR DIESEL OUTBOARD IN HIGH DEFINITION Every element of the CXO300 has been thought through, right down to the choice of display. Murphy by Enovation’s PowerView ® systems offer configurable CAN-based HD screens with rich, full- colour graphics, easy-to-read operator interfaces and high- speed processors The bonded, glare-free LED monitors remain bright and clear even in full sunlight, making them ideal for all types of environments and applications

A GLOBAL STANDARD IN SERVICE AND SUPPORT

Our service and support meet the same uncompromising standards as our engineering and performance. The CXO300 comes with a 1,500 hour warranty built in, and there’s an optional service package also available. Its tough build and minimal number of parts extend service intervals to around 1,000 hours, minimising maintenance costs and downtime. Oil and filter changes can be carried out without dropping the leg or dry-docking the vessel. And off-the-shelf propellers and minimum tool requirements keep maintenance as simple as possible. The very best professional support and service is available 24/7 online and by phone, and backed by a dedicated network of distributors and dealers worldwide.
